Netflix’s Adolescence is about to be extended.
Since its March 2025 release, the streaming hit has been sweeping awards shows, picking up trophies at the Emmys, Critics Choice and most recently, the 2026 Golden Globes.
The four-part limited series starring Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty told a self-contained story, but after Adolescence’s success, there has been talk of the drama returning for another season — something Graham hinted at backstage at the Golden Globes.
Adolescence was Netflix’s most-viewed series for the first half of 2025, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It later scored 13 Emmy nominations, eventually winning eight, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.
So, as more details are revealed, here’s what we know so far about Adolescence season 2.

Adolescence season 2 has not been officially confirmed, but it is seemingly in the works.
After winning the Golden Globe for Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology of TV Movie at the 2026 Golden Globes, co-creator and star Graham was asked about returning to the world of Adolescence.
In response, he teased that a second season was happening, mentioning Adolescence writer and co-creator Jack Thorne.
“I cannot answer that question because it’s somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind and Jack’s mind, and we’ll pull it out in three or four years, so stay tuned,” he said, per Deadline.
The outlet previously reported in April 2025 that production company Plan B Entertainment was considering a follow-up installment of Adolescence.
Plan B co-president Dede Gardner told Deadline that their goal for season 2 was to “widen the aperture, stay true to its DNA [and] not be repetitive.”
Who will be in the Adolescence season 2 cast?

It is unclear whether the original cast of Adolescence will return for season 2 or new characters will be introduced.
The actors have earned praise for their work in Adolescence season 1. Cooper made Golden Globes history when he won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television, becoming the youngest winner in the category at age 16.
Graham and Doherty also walked away winners at the 2026 Golden Globes. They took home the trophies for Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television and Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television, respectively.
What will Adolescence season 2 be about?

It is currently unclear what the plot of Adolescence season 2 will be about, but according to writer Thorne, it will most likely not be about Cooper’s character, Jamie.
“Our aim was to try and tell Jamie’s story as fully as we possibly could,” Thorne said during a March 2025 appearance on ITV’s This Morning, per The Independent. “I think Jamie’s story is finished.”
“I don’t think there’s anywhere more we can take Jamie, so I don’t think there is a series two,” he continued. “We’d love to explore the one shot format in another way. We’d love to tell other stories with it, but I don’t think a series two of Adolescence is quite right for us.”
When is Adolescence season 2 coming out?

A release date for Adolescence season 2 has not been announced, but backstage at the Golden Globes, Graham said that he and Thorne will “pull it out in three or four years, so stay tuned.”
A second installment will allow Graham to tell a different perspective. In March 2025, when talking to Variety about a season 2, he said, “There’s the possibility of developing another story.”
Hannah Walters, Graham’s wife, producing partner and Adolescence costar, ruled out the idea of an Adolescence prequel, telling the outlet, “That’s certainly not going to happen.”
“But there’s so much mileage in the one-shot [format of season 1] and so much mileage in investing into human nature again and looking at something else. But yeah, everything’s looking good,” she added. “Everyone’s happy, shall we say?”
