Katie Taylor joked that she thinks she would be “a very intense parent” as she discussed the possibility of having children in the future.
The boxing great also revealed how her husband Sean is much more laid-back than her, saying that “opposites attract”.
Taylor was speaking at a fan event at the Gleneagle Arena in Killarney on Friday night, discussing the highlights of her career and suggesting that there could still be more big fights to come.
The 39-year-old married real estate agent Sean McCavanagh early last year and lives with the American in Connecticut, where she has been based since turning professional in 2016.
“I think I’d be a very intense parent to a kid,” she said at Friday’s event, according to The Sunday Times. “Can you imagine little five-year-old Katie Jr on a football field? I’m saying ‘come on now, work through the pain barrier’.
“But thankfully my husband Sean is the most laid-back, chilled guy in the world. It’s actually quite funny. I’m so intense and he’s so laid-back. Opposites attract I guess.”

Taylor returned home to Wicklow with Sean in September and told how “love snuck up on her” when she appeared on the Late Late Show last month.
She revealed to host Patrick Kielty: “I think since I was a teenager, I’ve been so focused on boxing, I left very little room for relationships.
“And honestly, even the thought of a relationship was out of the question for me. So it’s so lovely that love snuck up in the later stages of my career.
“Myself and my husband Sean live a lovely, quiet life in Connecticut. And we’re very happy, thank God.”
Taylor recorded her third victory over Amanda Serrano on a magical night at Madison Square Garden last July, with many expecting the 2012 Olympic gold medallist to retire after that fight.
However, it looks likely that she will continue fighting, with bouts at Croke Park and in Las Vegas top of her wishlist.
“I don’t think I need another fight. But I do want another fight,” Taylor added at Friday’s event. “It needs to be a fight that’s going to excite me. It needs to be the right fight. It needs to be the right location.
“I’d love a fight in Croke Park. I’ve always wanted to fight in Vegas as well. Would you all like to go to Vegas for the weekend? But it needs to be the right fight and my team are working on that at the moment. We’ll see what happens.”
