UFC fans had mixed reactions to light heavyweight contender Khalil Rountree Jr.’s recent callout of Jiri Prochazka for a rematch.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka made a strong case for another title shot with a brutal knockout of Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 320 in October. In a back-and-forth battle for as long as the fight lasted, Prochazka rallied late to floor Rountree with one hook to win his second-straight bout.

Prochazka’s performance not only earned him a post-fight bonus from the UFC brass but also the UFC Honors award for ‘Comeback of the Year’ in 2025. Despite winning the award, Prochazka disputes his win as a ‘comeback’, calling his performance largely dominant from start-to-finish.

In the comments referenced above, Prochazka called for a ‘step up’ for his next Octagon appearance. A matchup with rising contender Carlos Ulberg is one possibility for Prochazka’s next opponent amidst Alex Pereira’s ongoing absence.

But Prochazka was recently called out by a surprising name, Rountree, on social media.

Khalil Rountree Jr. responded to Jiri Prochazka’s recent ‘comeback’ UFC award dispute

In a recent post to Instagram, Rountree appeared to respond to Prochazka’s comments.

“Rematch? #LetsGoForThat,” Rountree said.

Fight fans weren’t exactly universally enthused with Rountree’s calls for a rematch after UFC 320.

“You got put out cold,” one fan wrote on X.

“Best we can do is Rakic kid,” another said.

“‘I deserve a rematch because I got my a– butchered by Pereira.”

“Khalil Rountree needs to go link up with Merab and work on his cardio lol.”

“Nah he had his attempts and failed twice now.”

“Didn’t he get knocked out like months ago?!?!?!?!”

“I’m here for it! Two great warriors.”

“If you had actual stamina and didn’t quit you would be fighting for a belt by now.”

“Seeing Lopes get a rematch with Volk. Why not make Jiri vs. Rountree 2?”

“Naw I like Khalil but you got to fight whoever is back now after that loss.”
