It appears a current AEW title holder might be on their way to WWE sooner rather than later.

Tonight on AEW Dynamite, it was announced that Hangman Page and JetSpeed will take on The Opps for the World Trios Championship this Saturday night on Collision. That episode is being taped currently, and it seems very likely that the titles will be changing hands this weekend for a very important reason.

According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), Powerhouse Hobbs AEW contract is set to expire tonight at midnight. Contract negotiations have been ongoing between the two sides, and AEW reportedly offered Hobbs a “substantial” deal to remain with the company.

However, WWE sources have informed Sapp that Hobbs is expected to sign with them. Barring some huge unforeseen change, the company expects to sign him sooner rather than later.

Hobbs and AEW have been in active negotiations for months, and the performer is said to be departing on good terms. Sapp states that Hobbs was interested in testing the waters.

WWE has reportedly been interested in signing Hobbs for a number of years now, and the signing could officially take place later this week.

This news comes hot off the heels of the report that The Rascalz had made the jump from TNA Wrestling to AEW.

Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.
