Over the last few weeks, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ personnel have been shaken up. For various reasons, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats have had to part ways with defensive tackle Casey Sayles due to salary cap concerns, and Hamilton has had to release Devin Veresuk so that he can pursue NFL opportunities with the Indianapolis Colts. On the other hand, the Tiger-Cats have extended the contracts of defensive backs Jamal Peters and Stavros Katsantonis, and All-CFL defensive end Julian Howsare.
With the movement of players in and out of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats organization, it is not surprising that the Tiger-Cats continue pursuing prospects that could have the potential to boost Hamilton’s play in 2026. According to the CFL Transactions list, the Tiger-Cats have signed American linebacker TaMurion Wilson, and he has the ability to play safety and nickel. According to Pro Football Scouting Services, Wilson is a player with significant upside, but he needs time to develop into a dynamic playmaker at the professional level.
The 6’2″, 220-pound hybrid defender comes to the CFL after playing college football at the University of Central Arkansas. Wilson played at Central Arkansas from 2020 to 2023, and while there, he was one of the Bears’ top defenders. During his time at Central Arkansas, Wilson recorded 265 total tackles, including 104 tackles in 2022, 7 pass deflections, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and 1 recovered fumble.
During his collegiate career, Wilson developed a reputation for being an old-school, physical defensive player. Wilson is an outstanding run-game defender, especially when providing perimeter run support. In addition, he has the ability to cover receivers in the short and intermediate defensive zones.
Tiger-Cats Release American DL Jose Ramirez
In addition to signing Wilson, the Tiger-Cats have also released American defensive lineman Jose Ramirez. Ramirez was signed by the Tiger-Cats in late September of the 2025 season, and in Weeks 18, 19, and 21, he had the chance to play on the Hamilton defensive line. Hamilton has released Ramirez so he can pursue NFL opportunities, and he has recently worked out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
