A recently announced AEW signing also reportedly had interest from WWE.

Earlier this week, All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan took to social media to announce that CMLL’s Persephone and Mascara Dorada have signed dual contracts with the company. And now we’re learning that WWE had an interest in one of these talents.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE had been very interested in Persephone since seeing her match at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in London. Persephone lost a four-way match for the TBS Championship to Mercedes Moné.

This sounds incredibly similar to how the company landed Stephanie Vaquer after seeing her compete against Moné at Forbidden Door 2024. Unlike Vaquer, it appears CMLL and AEW were prepared this go around to make sure Persephone will be staying put in her current promotions.

Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information as it becomes available.
