Sir Nick Faldo has revealed that he has had open-heart surgery.
Faldo, 68, returned home with his wife, Lindsay, after a successful operation in Cleveland, according to a post on his X account.
He won six major titles during a stellar playing career and has become a leading television pundit on the sport since his retirement, working for CBS in the United States until 2022 and regularly appearing on Sky Sports.

Faldo and Lindsay after his successful operation
The post read: “Headed home. After two weeks in Cleveland, Nick Faldo, and his wife, Lindsay, are on their way home following a successful, scheduled preventative open-heart surgery to repair his enlarged aorta, performed by world-renowned cardiac surgeon Dr Lars Svensson at the Cleveland Clinic.
“Nick is now looking ahead to returning to his golf course design work and to the Masters Week in Augusta, GA [Georgia], where he will be celebrating ‘Six back in ‘96’.
“Home never felt so good.”
The “Six back in ‘96” refers to perhaps the most memorable triumph of Faldo’s career, when he pipped Greg Norman to the Masters title after overturning a six-shot deficit in the final round at Augusta in 1996.
Faldo won 43 tournaments in his playing days, including three Masters titles and three Open Championships. Born in Hertfordshire, he is widely regarded as the finest British golfer of all time. He was knighted in 2009.
He married Lindsay, his fourth wife, in 2020 and the couple live in Montana.
