The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have agreed to terms on a one-year contract extension with veteran offensive lineman Pat Neufeld for the 2026 CFL season. He was scheduled to become a free agent in February.
The six-foot-six, 300-pound Neufeld returns for his 12th season with the Blue and Gold and 15th in the Canadian Football League, including three years with the Saskatchewan Roughriders (2011-2013). He’s won two Grey Cups with Winnipeg, back-to-back in 2019 and 2021.
The three-time CFL all-star (2021-2023) started 18 regular season games and the Eastern Semi-Final at right guard last year. He played a key role in an offence which helped Canadian running back Brady Oliveira post a fourth consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season while the ground attack finished second in the CFL in rushing yards per game at 124.1.
The University of Saskatchewan product was selected by the Riders in the fifth round, 33rd overall during 2010 CFL Draft. Neufeld was acquired by Winnipeg in a trade in 2013 and has become a fixture along the offensive line. He has dressed for 186 CFL games, including 149 with the Blue Bombers, and now makes Winnipeg home.
Neufeld has been active in the community and was honoured in 2023 as the recipient of the Ed Kotowich ‘Good Guy Award’ for excellent football ability, being a leader in the locker room and shows outstanding effort in the community. In 2021, the Regina, SK native was the winner of the club’s Cal Murphy ‘Heart of a Legend Award’ presented annually to the player who has shown outstanding sportsmanship and dedication to the Canadian Football League and the community.
Winnipeg finished fourth in the West Division standings in 2025 with a 10-8 record, qualifying for the playoffs as the crossover team before losing the East Semi-Final to the Montreal Alouettes. Zach Collaros threw for 3,048 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions over 13 regular-season games, going 6-7 as a starter.
The Blue Bombers ranked fifth in net offence, third in net defence, and eighth with a turnover differential of minus-eleven. The club’s leading rusher was Brady Oliveira with 1,163 yards, leading receiver was Nic Demski with 1,001 yards, and leading tackler was Tony Jones with 104 tackles. Winnipeg ranked first in attendance with average crowds of 32,343, which was a 3.7 percent increase from the previous year.
