Buffalo Sabres forward Josh Norris is out week-to-week while he’s dealing with an upper-body injury, head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters on Sunday.
Norris, 26, left Wednesday’s 5-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers in the second period after recording just 8:55 of ice time with an assist.
The 6-foot-2 centre has already missed Thursday’s victory over the Montreal Canadiens and Saturday’s overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild and doesn’t appear as though he’ll play during the team’s upcoming five-game road trip.
Norris has had trouble staying in the lineup since he was acquired at the trade deadline from the Ottawa Senators last season in a deal that saw forward Dylan Cozens go the other way.
The Oxford, Mich., native appeared in three games for the Sabres after the trade before having his 2024-25 campaign end with a torn oblique muscle.
He recovered during the off-season but was then sidelined after sustaining an upper-body injury in the Sabres’ season-opening loss to the New York Rangers that saw him miss the next 23 games.
Norris has six goals and 17 points in just 19 games this season.
The Sabres sit fifth place in the Atlantic Division with a 26-16-5 record and currently hold the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference as they look to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2011.
