The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have re-signed American kicker Sergio Castillo and Global punter Jamieson Sheahan. Both players were pending free agents. Castillo is now signed through 2027, while Sheahan is signed through 2026.
Castillo connected on 48-of-56 field goal attempts in 2025, an average of 85.7 percent. He set a new team record and tied a CFL record with a 63-yard field goal against the Calgary Stampeders in August. He had the longest average attempt on field goals league-wide at 37.5 yards and also went 40-of-43 on convert attempts.
The 35-year-old native of La Joya, Texas has made 85.1 percent of his field goal attempts over 113 regular-season CFL games as a member of the Blue Bombers, Ottawa Redblacks, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, B.C. Lions, and Edmonton Elks. He has won one Grey Cup and earned one All-CFL selection.
Sheahan punted for a gross average of 47.8 yards and a net average of 38.4 yards in 2025, finishing fifth league-wide in net punting. He also booted two singles, placed nine punts inside the opponent’s 10-yard line, and served as the holder for Castillo on field goals and convert attempts.
The 28-year-old native of Bendigo, Australia was originally a first-round pick in the 2023 CFL Global Draft out of the University of California. He has punted 265 times for a gross average of 46.2 yards and a net average of 36.8 yards over 54 career regular-season games with the Blue Bombers.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers finished fourth in the West Division standings in 2025 with a 10-8 record, qualifying for the playoffs as the crossover team before losing the East Semi-Final to the Montreal Alouettes. Zach Collaros threw for 3,048 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions over 13 regular-season games, going 6-7 as a starter.
The Blue Bombers ranked fifth in net offence, third in net defence, and eighth with a turnover differential of minus-eleven. The club’s leading rusher was Brady Oliveira with 1,163 yards, leading receiver was Nic Demski with 1,001 yards, and leading tackler was Tony Jones with 104 tackles. Winnipeg ranked first in attendance with average crowds of 32,343, which was a 3.7 percent increase from the previous year.
