Florence’s famed Uffizi Gallery on
Monday joined tributes to fashion icon Valentino who has died at
93 calling him a timeless master.
The Uffizi Galleries, along with the Museum of Fashion and
Costume at Palazzo Pitti, are also paying homage to Valentino
Garavani, a “timeless master,” an “absolute protagonist of
Italian and international fashion.”
The Galleries posted two photos of the dresses on display at the
Fashion Museum on social media, illustrating his work “through
an iconic motif, the polka dot.
“An ornament that is never decorative in an accessory sense, but
always balanced, structural, which Valentino knew how to
transform into an expressive tool, into rhythm, lightness, and
measure,” according to the post accompanying the images.
“Valentino’s works reflect a vision of elegance founded on
formal balance, clarity of line, and timeless beauty; his is a
language that transcends the ages and continues to speak to the
present and the future.”
