Summerland’s Unisus School will hold tryouts for its soccer team.
The tryouts, in early March, are for U9 to U18 players, born between 2008 and 2017.
“These teams are designed for players who are motivated, committed, and eager to develop within a structured, performance-focused program,” a statement from the private school reads.
The school has been officially sanctioned through the Central Okanagan Youth Soccer Association, operating under the rules and standards of BC Soccer.
Unisus is operating with the Everton International Academy Affiliate Program to bring a high-performance soccer development program to the area.
Organizers say the program focuses on long-term player development. There are three to four training sessions per week, depending on age, team and skill level, along with competitive play on weekends.
“We are very excited to offer to our community a program that combines the training methodology developed by an English Premier League club with the structure and professional management of a leading education institution,” Unisus executive director Peter Chu said.
“We believe a combination of these elements will provide an effective and sustainable platform for long-term player development.”
In April 2025, Unisus partnered with Everton’s International Academy Affiliate Programme, a British soccer club, to provide a new soccer academy.
The tryout dates are March 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., March 10 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., March 12 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and March 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
