HONOLULU–The University of Hawai’i women’s tennis team (0-1) continues its three-week opening homestand with back-to-back dual matches against Sacramento State (1-0). The Rainbow Wahine will battle the Hornets on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 2:30 p.m. HT and Friday, Jan. 23 at 4:00 p.m. HT at the UH Tennis Complex.

Sacramento State holds an 8-7 all-time record against Hawai’i. But the ‘Bows snapped an eight-match losing streak against the Hornets in their most recent meeting. UH held off Sac State, 4-3 on Jan. 18, 2024 in Honolulu.
Last week, Hawai’i opened the 2026 season with a 5-2 loss to 22nd-ranked Washington. In doubles, UH came close to capturing the doubles point.UH’s #3 duo of Allaire Berl and Emma Forgac held off UW’s Alexis Jacobs and Jermine Sherif by a break, 6-4 to know the doubles score at 1-1. Hawai’i’s No. 2 pairing of Makeilah Nepomceno and Hannah Galindo were edged out by Reece Carter and marie Weissheim, 7-5. In singles, Galindo swept Washington’s Wavertly Potter in straight sets, 7-5, 6-0, while Berl hung tough to win in a marathon three-set super tie-breaker over Carina Syrtveit, 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (11-9).
