The City of Mississauga once again ranks among the top 50 employers in Canada in an annual survey conducted by Forbes.
In fact, the municipality is the highest-ranked Mississauga organization on the Canada’s Best Employers 2026 list compiled by Forbes and released on Tuesday. Each year, the list ranks the top 300 Canadian employers.
The City of Mississauga placed 41st in the latest rankings (38th last year, first among municipalities) and was second among municipalities this year to the City of London (13th on the latest list).
“We’re proud to once again be named one of Canada’s best employers by Forbes,” Mayor Carolyn Parrish said in a news release issued by the city on Tuesday. “It reflects the strength of our dedicated employees who are committed to delivering exceptional services and value to our residents and businesses.”
Mississauga city manager Geoff Wright added “our rating affirms our commitment to creating a workplace where employees feel valued and supported throughout their careers.”
In total, six Mississauga-based companies found themselves in the top 100 on the 2026 list (five did so in 2025 and 11 in 2024), with another three firms placing just outside that mark at nos. 101 to 103.

Mississauga city manager Geoff Wright says that as an employer, the municipality strives to create a workplace “where employees feel valued and supported throughout their careers.”
Mississauga placed 13 companies/organizations in the top 200 and 20 appeared on the list of the top 300 Canadian employers.
Other Mississauga companies in the top 100 are Flynn Group of Companies (construction, chemicals and raw materials firm founded in 1978) at No. 56, The Hershey Company (food and beverage firm) at No. 73, Marriott Hotels (Canada) at No. 82, HCL Tech (IT software and services firm founded in 2009) at No. 96 and Samsung Electronics at No. 97.
While it remained in the top 100, The Hershey Company fell in the rankings from both last year, when it placed fifth, and 2024, when it topped the overall list of Canadian employers.
Oh, so close to the top 100
Mississauga companies/organizations finishing just outside the top 100 on this year’s list were drug and biotechnology firm GSK (No. 101), Greater Toronto Airports Authority, which runs Toronto Pearson Airport (No. 102) and IT software and services company Intuit (No. 103).
The top 10 Canadian employers this year, according to Forbes, are (No. 1 through No. 10): Laval University (Quebec City), McMillan (professional services, Ottawa), Sherbrooke University (Sherbrooke), Parks Canada (Gatineau), Concordia University (Montreal), Canadian Institute for Health Information (Ottawa), BC Hydro (Vancouver), Bank of Canada (Ottawa), Canadian Blood Services (Ottawa) and CSA Group (professional services, Toronto).
American media and publishing giant Forbes partnered with market research firm Statista to survey more than 37,000 Canada-based employees working for companies and institutions that employ at least 500 individuals within Canada.
First list of top employers was released in 2016
Survey respondents, who remained anonymous so they could answer freely, were asked among other things if they’d recommend their employer to others and to rate it based on a range of criteria including salary, work flexibility, training programs and opportunities to advance, Forbes said in a news release.
Forbes released its first Top 300 Canadian Employers list in 2016. Over the years, company officials said earlier, “a number of companies have risen through the ranks (on the list) while others have fallen off. And (as of last year) a full 30 employers have been ranked in all 10 editions of the list, comprising our honor roll.”
Forbes noted companies pay no fee to participate in the rankings or to be selected.
