WNBA star Angel Reese has joined the Season 2 cast of The Hunting Wives.

Netflix announced Reese’s casting Tuesday on X, confirming she’ll be joining the series in the co-starring role of “Trainer Barbie” in the upcoming season.

It appears to be a dream come true for Reese, who wrote on X in August, “Nglllll The Hunting Wives is a CRAZYYYY but good watch.” After series creator Rebecca Cutter thanked Reese for watching, she replied, “Just let me know if you need me for season 2.”

Reese is also known by her nicknames Bayou Barbie and Chi Barbie.

The breakout hit series, starring Malin Åkerman and Brittany Snow, is based on the bestselling novel by May Cobb. It follows a woman as she and her family move from Boston to Texas. There, she grows close to a socialite — maybe too close — and becomes consumed by obsession, seduction, and murder.

Season 2 will be an original concept-based continuation of the story, using the Season 1 finale as a jumping-off point. At the start of Season 2, Sophie (Snow) and Margo (Åkerman) are on the outs. But soon enough, old secrets and new foes force them back together. As they play their dangerous games the question arises. Are they the hunters or the hunted?

Returning main cast includes Jaime Ray Newman (Callie), Dermot Mulroney (Jed), Evan Jonigkeit (Graham) and George Ferrier (Brad). Season 1 recurring cast members Karen Rodriguez, who plays Deputy Salazar, and Hunter Emery, who plays her partner Deputy Flynn, were promoted to series regulars. Branton Box, who plays their boss Sheriff Johnny, is set to continue as a recurring guest star in Season 2.

The Hunting Wives isn’t Reese’s first experience in front of the camera.  She previously appeared as herself in the 2025 political thriller A House of Dynamite starring Idris Elba and Rebecca Ferguson

The Hunting Wives is produced by Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment.
