The Cleveland Browns are looking to land a new head coach after they fired Kevin Stefanski. While Stefanski found a new job with the Atlanta Falcons, the Browns haven’t found their new head coach just yet.
Jim Schwartz has been interviewed a few times, and Mike McDaniel turned down the Browns’ job to become the offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Chargers.
But, as NFL insider Jordan Schultz revealed, there are two finalists for the Browns head coaching job. One coach is from the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the other is from the Los Angeles Rams. Either would be a great hire.
Browns have two finalists for HC job
“Jaguars OC Grant Udinski, who just turned 30 last week, and Rams pass-game coordinator Nathan Scheelhaase both had excellent first interviews and are now finalists,” Schultz reported.
Here’s my reporting on the #Browns and where things stand with their HC search.
One additional note: There’s a good chance they add another name or two to the mix. Very fluid. https://t.co/drgS1HgJs8 pic.twitter.com/rjCfjDFZPR

This is a significant report in that the Browns now have two strong contenders for their head coaching job this offseason.
Both Udinski and Scheelhaase are very young coaching candidates, and could be the Browns’ version of Sean McVay or Mike Tomlin.
Of course, it’s nearly impossible to know how well these coaches would do once they become a head coach in Cleveland, nonetheless.

But, if there were any young coaching candidate to turn into a long-term hire, it would be one of these great offensive minds.
The Jaguars’ offense took a massive leap this season with Udinski as a key member of the offense. He’s also helped Sam Darnold turn into the QB he is today, as he was the quarterback’s coach in Minnesota in 2024.
Scheelhaase is a great option as well, as his connection to McVay is an appealing hire, and combined with Matthew Stafford and the Rams offense being one of the best in the NFL, he would be a great hire as well.
