CAPE MAY, N.J. (WPVI) — Police in Cape May have arrested a man accused of causing significant damage to an iconic statue at a Jersey Shore miniature golf course.

Authorities say 29-year-old Blane Dongas of Dallas, Pa., is accused of ripping down and discarding the Humpty Dumpty statue at the Ocean Putt Miniature Golf Course during an incident in September.

Surveillance video allegedly shows the suspect climbing the fence, removing the statue from its foundation, and dumping it onto a nearby property.

Officials say the vandalism caused an estimated $2,000 in damages.

Dongas surrendered to Cape May police on Monday. He was processed and released on a summons pending court proceedings.

He is facing charges of criminal mischief and trespass.
