GTA, a telecommunications provider, announced an annual sponsorship of $3,000 for the Rovers Girls U11 soccer team, supporting the team’s development and participation in community and competitive soccer throughout the season.

As part of its season, the team will represent Guam at the 9th Tokyo AF Chairman’s Cup Mini Soccer Tournament in February in Tokyo, Japan.

“This generous donation from GTA means that talented young female athletes from all backgrounds can now represent Guam on the international stage in Tokyo, regardless of their family’s financial situation,” said Robert Becker, head coach of the Rovers Girls U11 soccer team. “We’re deeply grateful for their commitment to ensuring that hard work and dedication, not income, determine which girls get to chase their dreams and compete at the highest level.”

Michele Catahay Perez, GTA director of community relations, said community sports play an important role in youth development.

“Through GTA Gives, we support programs that empower young athletes, promote healthy lifestyles and teach values such as teamwork, confidence and resilience, on and off the field,” she said.

Through GTA Gives, GTA continues to invest in youth and community-based initiatives that strengthen families, encourage active living and create positive opportunities for Guam’s next generation.
