I’m starting to get the feeling that Saskatchewan Roughriders’ analyst Luc Mullinder isn’t a fan of Cher and her hit single, ‘If I Could Turn Back Time.’

The Canadian Football League’s winter meetings wrapped up in Calgary last week, and one of the outcomes was reverting the play clock back to 20 seconds in the final three minutes of the half. Luc Mullinder told the SportsCage his reaction to the reversal.
“This is the first time I’ve thought there was a misstep on behalf of the CFL commissioner and the board of governors. The massive mistake was going back on a change. If you’re going to come out and be like, look, we got a 35-second clock, we’ve got shortened end zones and a shorter field from now on. Don’t go into meetings and get pressured into being like, ” Fine, we’ll give you a 20-second clock, that’s weak. It’s weak leadership. In my mind, I would have loved to see him (Stewart Johnston) stand pat. If you really think that it’s still going to cause an exciting CFL by changing the 30, don’t go back and then change part of the game.”
“If we’re going to make those little detail changes, take out the need to be one yard off the ball in third and one and a half yards or less, right? Like, take that away. Let’s really go into it. I just, it’s not necessarily like a fundamental disagreement. It’s just, I don’t understand why we would make these changes, and then in the league meetings be like, you know what, we’ll throw you a bone and give you 20 seconds, 20-second clocks in the three minutes. As a leader and somebody who’s had to make tough decisions in my organization, I understand meeting guys halfway, but that seems weak, like, you know, fine guys, you’ve complained about it enough here, you can have this.”
