The quarterback class for the 2026 NFL Draft is not stellar. This is not a great class for teams looking to find either a starter or depth in the form of a backup player. In this one, we will be taking a look at Florida State’s Tommy Castellanos. The mobile quarterback has had an interesting career, but what does his scouting report look like? Let’s talk about it.
Castellanos, a former three-star prospect out of Ware County High School in Waycross, Georgia, originally committed to UCF before transferring to Boston College, where he would start for one year before transferring again to Florida State. Castellanos would throw for 2,760 yards, a 15/9 TD/INT ratio, and a completion percentage of 58.3%. He would also rush for 557 yards and nine touchdowns.

When looking at Tommy Castellanos, you have to understand you are drafting him for his rushing upside, which is very apparent. He has strong vision while escaping the pocket and is creative in the open field. The throwing motion is clean, but needs minor tweaking, and has above-average arm strength. Castellanos has tons of starting experience, which is a plus for NFL teams.
This is where the shoe drops. The accuracy and decision-making in the pocket are massive weaknesses. He struggles throwing to all levels of the field, and outside throws either fall flat or sail over his receiver’s head; there’s no in-between. Castellanos gets far too jittery in the pocket and looks to run after just one read. When he has his read, he struggles to go through progressions, often looking down his throws. With all this experience and no real improvement in accuracy, there is massive cause for concern about development.
At 5’11, a move to running back might be the proper decision to warrant a late-round dart throw. As things stand, Tommy Castellanos gets an undrafted grade, and if there is a commitment to move positions, there is some intrigue about bringing him in to camp as a UDFA.
