We have some bad last-minute news regarding the Montreal Canadiens. David Reinbacher has unfortunately been injured again, a major blow for the organization.
See the official statement from the Laval Rocket here:
Bad news involving a key player for the future of the Montreal Canadiens on defense
David Reinbacher left the Laval Rocket game prematurely this afternoon and will not return to play, news that is clearly disappointing for fans and the organization alike.
The organization shared the news via a brief message on social media, which quickly spread across the web.
We are talking about a 21-year-old defenseman who seems unable to stay away from the infirmary since arriving in North America (and even before that).
Selected 5th overall in the 2023 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, the Austrian carries enormous pressure on his shoulders.
Every time he appears to be finding his rhythm with the farm team, misfortune strikes again.
Rocket management did not provide further details, simply confirming that the player would not return today.
This is a scenario that is becoming painfully repetitive for the player who was supposed to be a pillar of Montreal’s defensive corps.
Last year, knee surgery sidelined him for six long months, derailing a significant portion of his development.
David Reinbacher’s development with the Montreal Canadiens is turning into a nightmare
Serious questions are now being raised about whether Reinbacher’s frame is ready for the physical demands of professional North American hockey.
A prolonged absence would force Kent Hughes to reassess his plans regarding the organization’s young defensive hierarchy.
The Canadiens need to see this young man playing games, not piling up medical reports.
