The Vancouver Canucks are and will continue to be the worst team in the NHL this season, as such the team’s management has declared a rebuild, but are Patrick Allvin and Jim Rutherford competent enough to tear this team down and build it all the way back up?
“Once the trade deadline passes, attention will turn to the future of those off the ice, including the aforementioned Patrik Allvin & Jim Rutherford, to see whether or not those at the top of the organization believe in them enough to see this rebuild through until the end.”-Jaxon
Will Patrick Allvin and Jim Rutherford get the Vancouver Canucks back on track?
Ryan Cuneo of the Daily Faceoffreported on whether the Canucks have the right men for the job when it comes to doing this rebuild. Both Allvin and Rutherford have failed miserably with the current team they built, and many are doubting if they can get themselves out of this hole they have created.
“The question Canucks fans should be asking, is why should the people overseeing the rebuild be the same ones that oversaw the collapse? Jim Rutherford has been Vancouver’s president of hockey operations since December of 2021. Patrik Allvin has been their general manager since January of 2022. Under their watch, the Canucks have gone from one of the NHL’s most promising young teams to one of its most disappointing.”-Cuneo
The Canucks are now looking to make more moves before the deadline to acquire more draft picks and younger players. But based on who they have traded for in the past, it doesn’t look like they know how to find talent, and especially leadership. A lot of eyebrows will be raised if the pair is still around by the summer.
