Desmond Amsterdam has his arm raised by referee Eion Jardine after stopping Edmond DeClou in the opening round of their light heavyweight main bout at the inaugural CBO Pro/Am card at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Saturday night.

Desmond Amsterdam delivered a statement performance to close a memorable night of boxing on Saturday, stopping fellow Guyanese Edmond DeClou inside the opening round to headline the inaugural Caribbean Boxing Organisation (CBO) Pro/Am card at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Amsterdam wasted little time asserting control in the light heavyweight main bout, flooring DeClou three times before the referee intervened at the 2:29 mark of the first round. The emphatic TKO sent the crowd to its feet and capped an event widely regarded by many boxing enthusiasts as one of the best-organised and most entertaining boxing shows in recent memory, with a strong turnout and consistent action throughout the evening.

The professional segment of the card produced several decisive performances. In the junior welterweight opener featuring two pro debutants, Jamal Eastman outworked Delon Charles over four rounds to earn a unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the bout in his favour. Eastman was the sharper and more technically polished fighter, controlling the early exchanges and landing the cleaner punches. Although both boxers showed signs of fatigue in the final round, Eastman sealed the verdict after landing a heavy right uppercut that visibly rocked Charles.
