Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani won his third straight MVP award (and fourth overall) on Saturday. But he wasn’t the only member of his household to collect some hardware.
Decoy, Ohtani’s dog, was also gifted an award by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America during the 101st New York Baseball Writers’ Gala:
Ohtani, 31, was the heavy frontrunner for his award after hitting .282 with 55 homers, 102 RBI, 146 runs, 20 stolen bases and a 1.014 OPS. He also was 1-1 in 14 starts as a pitcher with a 2.87 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 62 strikeouts in 47 innings.
Decoy didn’t post any stats, which makes sense considering he’s a dog.
Other award-winners on Saturday night included Aaron Judge (AL MPV), Paul Skenes (NL Cy Young), Tarik Skubal (AL Cy Young), Drake Baldwin (NL Rookie of the Year) and Nick Kurtz (AL Rookie of the Year).
