A city of Ottawa councillor wants the municipality to look into acquiring the Kanata Lakes Golf Club amid the city’s opposition to the property’s redevelopment.
CTV News reports the developer is digging test pits on the golf course property. The green light was given to the developer in September by the Supreme Court of Canada for the construction of 1,500 homes.
Development plans for the ClubLink-owned golf course have triggered plenty of controversy in recent years, particularly with regard to a 1981 agreement aimed to keep 40 per cent of the property as green space. The Ontario Court of Appeal, however, ruled the agreement was inoperative.
