The 2026 NASCAR playoffs will not have a road course
New for the 2026 season, NASCAR is reverting to the old format. The playoff eliminations are no longer. In it’s place, a 10-race playoff and ‘The Chase’ is making a return.
NASCAR championship format has been revised for 2026
In 2018, Charlotte Motor Speedway made their road course debut. However, it’s been reported by Jordan Bianchi that The Roval will be removed from the schedule.
Of the 10 playoff tracks, none of them will be run on road courses.
Instead, both races at Charlotte Motor Speedway will be hosted on the oval. That makes sense given the Next Gen car provides a great product on 1.5-mile tracks.
The drivers are welcoming the change…
Carson Hovevar reacted, “W”
Ricky Stenhouse Jr added, “Don’t be getting our hopes up.”
Dale Earnhardt Jr: “The Roval will always be there when they want to bring it back. The oval has been solid recently. No reason not to take advantage of that. One may complain about the lack of road courses in the chase. It makes zero difference to me either way.”
