LAS VEGAS – Ty Miller met the media Saturday after his win over Adam Fugitt at UFC 324.
Miller (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) got the UFC’s Paramount broadcast era off to a dramatic start when h e stopped Fugitt (10-6 MMA, 2-4 UFC) with just one second left in the opening round to open the prelims at T-Mobile Arena.

The 25-year-old Miller was making his UFC debut after getting signed after a DWCS win this past fall. He was in the UFC’s first Paramount fight, got the UFC’s first knockout on Paramount
Then he became one of the first four recipients of the promotion’s new $100,000 bonus structure when he won Performance of the Night. Given first-time UFC fighters coming off DWCS usually have deals that pay $10,000-$12,000 to fight and double for a win, it’s likely Miller’s bonus was about four times what his paycheck was for the night.
“It’s awesome because no one else can have that except for me. It’s an honor,” Miller said at his post-fight news conference. “I’m glad they picked me as the first fight to get things going and light the crowd up.

“… I was feeling pretty confident (late in the round) that I could get him out of there before the round ended. I wanted a finish for the first fight of the year and the first fight on Paramount. (The new bonuses) were a little bit more motivation, for sure. To add that, too, is the cherry on top.”
