Recently, Google pushed out the January Pixel update, but it already seems to be causing some connectivity problems.
Several owners voiced their concerns on Reddit and Google’s support forums, citing that both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth have stopped working and will not turn on. Interestingly, even a factory reset doesn’t fix the problem.
The problem appears to affect all supported Pixel models, including the Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro/XL. While it isn’t affecting every device that installed the update (my Pixel 9, and MobileSyrup EIC Jon Lamont’s Pixel 10 Pro aren’t having any issues), it does appear to be a pretty common problem.
As Android Police pointed out, this would be a bigger issue for those using Google devices with limited mobile data access, especially those on more inexpensive phone plans with little to no data. This would effectively leave your device stuck in a near-airplane mode state.
Unfortunately, there seems to be no simple temporary fix for this issue. Some users have said that sideloading the new update appears to resolve it, but it requires some technical know-how to do so successfully.
According to a user on the Google support forums, the company is aware of the issue, so a fix shouldn’t take that long, but it is unclear for now.
