The exciting match between ranked UFC lightweight contenders Rafael Fiziev and Mauricio Ruffy will be part of the UFC 325 card on Jan. 31 at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.

Although he dropped his previous fight, Ruffy will still be the betting favorite with -120 UFC odds, while Fiziev, who won his most recent match, is going to be the slight betting underdog with +100 odds.

UFC 325: Rafael Fiziev vs. Mauricio Ruffy: Prediction

I predict a unanimous decision win for Ruffy against Fiziev, as his speed will be the key difference in the fight. Additionally, he maximizes his reach and leg reach advantages by fighting on the outside while inflicting damage.

Fiziev likes to fight in the clinch to fully utilize his Muay Thai background, using short punches, elbows, and knees. But I think that Ruffy recognizes that and won’t engage in close distance because Fiziev thrives in those moments.

What I think Ruffy will do is to let Fiziev move forward and wait for him before he counters with his punches. Despite the power that Ruffy has in his punches, I believe Fiziev will survive for three rounds due to his toughness and durability.

Rafael Fiziev’s Recent Fight Results

Fiziev has been with the UFC since April 2019. In his last five fights, he lost three and won two. He had a three-fight losing skid with losses to Justin Gaethje (twice) and Mateusz Gamrot. His two wins during this stretch were against Rafael Dos Anjos and Ignacio Bahamondes.

Mauricio Ruffy’s Recent Fight Results

Ruffy is a product of Dana White’s Contender Series in October 2023. He competed in four UFC fights and won three. The Brazilian knockout artist scored wins against Jamie Mullarkey, James Llontop, and King Green, while his lone loss in the octagon was courtesy of Benoit Saint Denis.
