NASCAR shifts owner points for several teams ahead of 2026 opener

Several changes have occurred in the owner points standings ahead of the 2026 NASCAR season as new entries have prepared to make their debuts.

According to information provided by NASCAR, teams across all three national NASCAR series have swapped owner points. Though the reasons vary based on the situation. For example, RFK Racing had to swap owner points with Rick Ware Racing as part of a charter lease agreement. Trackhouse Racing had to make some changes while updating car numbers.

The owner points updated in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series after one organization, Kaulig Racing, left and multiple others joined. Similar situations also occurred in the Craftsman Truck Series.

Cup Series owner points changes

The No. 88 Trackhouse Racing points moved to the No. 97 as Shane van Gisbergen changed numbers
The No. 60 RFK Racing points moved to the No. 51 of Rick Ware Racing as part of a charter lease deal
The No. 99 Trackhouse Racing points moved to the No. 88 as Connor Zilisch moved to a new number and Daniel Suarez moved to Spire Motorsports
The No. 51 Rick Ware Racing points moved to the No. 60 of RFK Racing as part of a charter lease deal
The No. 87 Trackhouse Racing points moved to the No. 99 Trackhouse Racing entry
The No. 199 of RFK Racing became a new entry. This will be the No. 99 used in the Daytona 500 by Corey Lajoie.

The No. 2 Richard Childress Racing entry sold its points to the No. 30 Barrett-Cope Racing entry
The No. 25 AM Racing points moved to the No. 76 Sigma Performance Services entry as part of an acquisition
