Instead of Celebrity Big Brother airing against the Winter Olympics, CBS is giving us another gift: a series of 10 Survivor episodes featuring players who will also be on Survivor 50.
Today, CBS revealed the schedule and individual episodes, led by the iconic episode of Survivor Micronesia: Fans vs. Favorites in which Cirie Fields, with her alliance, convinced Erik Reinchbach to give up his immunity idol, and then voted him out.
Last year, Erik told me “that moment—because of the nerve it struck, and how they edited it—it hung on.” Undoubtedly, this prime-time broadcast will introduce it to people who haven’t seen it.
Erik also said that, over time, he “realize[d] that the positive [comments] kind of outweigh it. A lot of people saw that I was trusting, and they saw that I’m a good person and it didn’t matter that the choice I made was being duped.” (Read the full interview.)
That episode is re-airing because Cirie is back on Survivor 50. Will themes from it and these other episodes carry through to Survivor 50? Even if not, they’re a great opportunity to revisit some high points.
While season 16, Survivor Micronesia, is the earliest season represented in these 10 episodes, and three are from the new era, all 49 seasons of Survivor are available on demand on Pluto right now, free.
