ST. ALBANS — As part of our ongoing work to digitize our film archives, here is a set of photos taken 50 years ago during this week in January of 1976.

A boxing match is in full swing! In one photo, a man gets ready to throw a punch while his opponent looks on. From the look of the ceiling, this event was probably held in the Missisquoi Valley Union gymnasium. 

What do you remember about boxing and gym culture in Franklin County in the 1970s? How does it compare today?

Check out a community theater performance with costumes and dancing! A group of Boy Scouts races Pinewood Derby cars down a wooden track. In one photo, you can see the cars zooming from the start to the end of the track as everyone looks on in excitement.
