WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. — A top-10 finish from junior You Seong Choi headlined a well-rounded effort from San Diego Golf on Wednesday afternoon at the Southwestern Invitational, leading five top-50 finishes for the Toreros as they claimed a tied-for-fifth place finish of 13 total teams at North Ranch Country Club.
Choi, the Hacienda Heights, CA, native, carded rounds of 68, 69, and 72 for a total of 209 strokes that was one under par and tied for sixth place.
As a team, USD combined for rounds of 286, 277, and 295 for a total of 858 strokes that was 18 over par and good for tied-for-fifth place in the 13 team field.
Ian Maspat set forth San Diego’s next strongest performance, carding a three-over 213 after rounds of 70, 66, and 77 strokes to finish tied for 15th.
Sophomore Cooper Humphreys was just behind at T-25, turning in a six-over 216 (74, 71, 71), which was closely followed by a duo of true freshman in Reid Piron at T-39 (+11, 74, 71, 76, 221), and Reed Arnaldo at T-49 (+14, 77, 71, 76, 224).
USD will be back in action on February 16, when it begins play in The Prestige hosted by UC Davis at the PGA West – Norman Course in Palm Springs, California.
