Premier Tony Wakeham has a meeting scheduled with outgoing Quebec Premier Francois Legault this week as he and his counterparts meet with Prime Minister Mark Carney in Ottawa.

Wakeham addressed reporters yesterday ahead of today’s meeting with the PM.

The Premier was asked about the status of negotiations with Hydro Quebec on finalizing the MOU on the Upper Churchill.

He says he won’t prejudge the independent review process currently underway, but did say he has a meeting planned with Legault.

The future of the deal has come into doubt after Legault announced his intention to step down once a leader of his Coalition Avenir has been chosen to replace him in April. Quebec is facing a general election in the fall, and the separatist Parti Quebecois is currently leading in the polls.
