The Montreal Alouettes signed defensive back Thakarius “BoPete” Keyes to a two-year contract through the 2027 season on Wednesday.
Thakarius “BoPete” Keyes is six foot one and weighs 200 pounds. The 28-year-old from Laurel, Mississippi, re-signed with the San Antonio Brahmas on August 27, 2024. In 2025, he made 14 tackles (9 solos, 5 assists), two tackles for loss, and one pass breakup in five games. The Brahmas released him on May 13, 2025.
The Kansas City Chiefs drafted Keyes in the seventh round (237th pick) of the 2020 NFL Draft. Keyes also spent time with the Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots, Chicago Bears, Houston Texans, Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, and Cleveland Browns. He played 13 NFL games with 9 tackles (8 solo, 1 assist).
The San Antonio Brahmas signed Keyes on February 25, 2024. In 2024, Keyes made 14 tackles (9 solos, 5 assists), 1 tackle for loss, and one pass breakup in 6 games. In the 2024 UFL Playoffs, Keyes made one tackle (1 solo).
Collegiately, Keyes played four seasons at Tulane (2016-19) with 95 tackles (76 solos, 19 assists), two interceptions, and 19 pass breakups in 40 games for the Mean Green. In 2018, he recorded five tackles against Louisiana-Lafayette in the AutoNation Cure Bowl.
