The New York Jets didn’t have the best 2025 season. They missed out on the top pick and Fernando Mendoza, but also had one of the worst seasons in the league.

It was a year to forget in Aaron Glenn’s first year as Jets head coach, and after a slew of coach firings late in the offseason, things aren’t looking much better for the future.

NFL writer for The Athletic, Michael Silver, shared a satire-laden rant on Glenn’s”failure” of a first year as head coach, blasting the Jets head coach with all of the lowlights from the last year.

NFL writer blasts Aaron Glenn after disastrous year-1

“Some might say Aaron Glenn was a failure in his first season as an NFL head coach,” Silver writes, “what with the 3-14 record, punctuated by a five-game losing streak with an average defeat margin of nearly 25 points per game.”

This already isn’t a good look for Glenn, as Silver is not-so-subtly calling out the five-game losing streak to finish the season for the Jets that featured blowouts every game. But, he’s not done yet putting Glenn on blast.

“Yet Glenn did some important things,” Silver writes, “like concealing his starting quarterback’s identity on multiple occasions and maintaining a brusque persona in press conferences. He’s clearly in charge. Let’s give him some credit.”

If it wasn’t clear enough in the first part of this rant, this second section is chock-full of satire. The year didn’t go great for Glenn, and Silver didn’t hold back.

He’s calling out Glenn for not disclosing his starting quarterback on multiple occasions until the last possible moment.

There were multiple weeks where the starter between Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor wasn’t officially known until game day. With the 3-14 record, that QB trickery didn’t work.

Combined with Silver not being a fan of how Glenn acted in his press conferences, and the jab that Glenn is “clearly in charge,” it’s very apparent that Silver is not a fan of Glenn.

This rant comes after the Jets fired their offensive coordinator very late in the offseason, getting a late start on the hiring process. It’s been a rough year for Glenn in New York, and Silver’s rant only scratched the surface of all that went wrong in the least year for the Jets.
