Ferencvaros Head Coach Robbie Keane celebrates
Celtic will discover their Europa League knockout play-off opponents on Friday after booking their place in the draw with victory over FC Utrecht.
Martin O’Neill’s side did what was required under the lights at Celtic Park, taking care of business against the already-eliminated Dutch outfit to keep their European campaign alive beyond the league phase. The Hoops now move into the knockout play-off round, with the draw set to take place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon.
After the league phase standings were finalised at the conclusion of matchday eight, Celtic landed in 21st spot. Now they will face either Stuttgart or Ferencvaros.
As an unseeded side, the Scottish champions will play the first leg at home before travelling away for the return fixture. The matches are scheduled to take place on February 19 and February 26, with a place in the Europa League last 16 up for grabs.
The draw gets underway at 12 noon UK time on Friday, January 30, and will be streamed live on UEFA.com and the official UEFA Europa League app.
