Bridgerton (Netflix)

The Regency alternative history drama became an instant hit for Netflix when it arrived on the streaming service on Christmas Day 2020. It has since grown into one of the most-watched shows across the globe and now returns for a fourth series split across two parts. The latest run centres on a Cinderella-like story of a romance between Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek. It’s based on the book An Offer From a Gentleman by Julia Quinn, and promises to deliver the same mix of glamour, drama and intrigue that the show has become known for across the past six years.

Under Salt Marsh (Sky/Now)

Starring Kelly Reilly, Rafe Spall and Jonathan Pryce, this new dark crime drama is set against the moody backdrop of the beautiful Welsh coast. The story follows Jackie Ellis (Kelly Reilly), a teacher and former police detective who finds the body of her eight-year-old student washed up after a violent storm. The shocking incident stirs up memories in the small town of a similar case from three years earlier and brings back Detective Eric Bull (Spall) in an attempt to solve the latest case.

Take That (Netflix)

The streaming service has developed somewhat of a cottage industry in retrospective documentaries on famous British subjects in recent years, with David Beckham, Robbie Williams and Lewis Capaldi among the recent stars in the spotlight. Now the streaming service turns its attention to Britain’s biggest boy band, Take That, mapping the rise of Robbie, Mark, Gary, Howard and Jason from unknown Northern lads to global superstars.

Wonder Man (Disney+)

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is showing no sign of stopping its expansion across the small screen with this latest television adventure from the showrunner Andrew Guest. It stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, aka Wonder Man, and Ben Kingsley as fellow actor Trevor Slattery. It focuses on the plight of actor Williams as he auditions to get the lead role in a remake of the film Wonder Man before actually acquiring superpowers.

Shrinking (Apple TV)

Created by Bill Lawrence, Jason Segel and Brett Goldstein, Shrinking gained a loyal and growing fanbase in its first two seasons. It returns for a third run this week. Starring Segal as Jimmy Laird, a cognitive behavioural therapy therapist grieving for his wife, the show offers up a dark and at times quirky comedy drama that delves into the mind and motivation of its leading characters. Harrison Ford co-stars as Dr Paul Rhoades, a senior therapist and colleague of Laird’s who has Parkinson’s disease.
