Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a residential fire that resulted in the death of one individual.
On Friday, January 30, 2026, at around 4:15 a.m., police responded to a structure fire in Colborne. As a result of a search of the multi-occupancy dwelling, one person has been located deceased.
Four people were treated for non-life threatening injuries. Those tenants needing housing are temporarily staying at area hotels.
The scene is still being held for the investigation which is being assisted by the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Services (IDENT), the Ontario Fire Marshall (OFM) and the Office of the Chief Coroner (OCC).
