Eddie Hearn’s father, Barry Hearn, has revealed how Jake Paul paid a heavy financial price after a public dispute with Matchroom Boxing spiralled into a costly legal battle.

The long-running saga stemmed from comments Paul made about Matchroom, which escalated beyond verbal sparring and into formal legal action.

Hearn has now outlined how the situation unfolded and why the outcome carried significant consequences for the YouTube star-turned-boxer.

Speaking in comments shared publicly and circulated widely online, including a clip posted by IFN Boxing, Hearn detailed what prompted the lawsuits.

“He said some very naughty things about us which weren’t true. He accused us of bribing judges and officials to get a result of a fight, and it was as direct as that.

“And so the referee sued him. We sued him. He lost. We sued him for $100 million,” Hearn revealed.

The remarks underline the seriousness of the accusations and why Matchroom and those involved felt legal action was unavoidable.

According to Hearn, the issue was never about publicity or posturing, but about protecting reputations when lines were clearly crossed.

The dispute ultimately resulted in Paul paying a significant settlement, marking one of the most expensive off-ring consequences of his boxing career to date.

Despite the scale of the fallout, Hearn made it clear that Matchroom has no interest in prolonging the conflict.

“No, we don’t have him. Nothing lost. A mistake was made. He’s paid. We move on.”

The comments suggest that, from Matchroom’s perspective, the matter has been resolved fully and without lingering resentment.

Hearn’s stance reflects a broader desire to draw a line under the episode rather than allow it to define future dealings.

For Jake Paul, the situation stands as a reminder that statements made outside the ring can carry consequences just as serious as those inside it.
