New TV shows, films and documentaries coming to Netflix in February have a nostalgic feel, including the Derry Girls creator bringing us a new show, and a fresh docuseries on the creation and ultimate cancellation of America’s Next Top Model. But a lot of our favourites are also returning, particularly The Night Agent, The Lincoln Lawyer and Bridgerton Season 4, Part 2.

But Canadians will want to head over to Netflix quickly, with some favourites being removed from the site in Canada in February. Starting with The Addams Family and Addams Family Values, Adam Sandler’s beloved film Mr. Deeds, Eat Pray Love starring Julia Roberts, Coach Carter with Samuel L. Jackson, and Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver.

Later in the month, the iconic Robin Williams movie Dead Poets Society will be leaving Netflix Canada, along with Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Sixteen Candles and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

What to watch on Netflix: New TV shows and moviesGlitter & Gold — Feb. 1

The docuseries Glitter & Gold gives us a look at the road to the Olympics for the world’s best ice dancing pairs, Americans Madison Chock and Evan Bates, the Canadian pair Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, and the “wild cards” Guillaume Cizeron and Laurence Fournier Beaudry for Team France.

“Early on in this project, I put a thesis statement on the top of all my outlines that read ‘relationships, relationships, relationships,'” director Kate Walsh told Tudum. “This sport hinges on relationship-building: with your partner, your coaches and even the judges.”

“In addition to showcasing the beauty and drama of the sport itself, we really focused on developing our characters and the relationships between partners. I wanted to give the audience a better understanding of who they are and why they dedicate their lives to this sport.”

The Lincoln Lawyer, Season 4 — Feb. 5

Manuel Garcia Rulfo returns as Mickey Haller in The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4, as Mickey and his team work to prove his innocence in the murder of a former client, Sam Scales (Christopher Thornton).

“The stakes have never been higher, because this time Mickey is the client. With his very life and reputation on the line, he’ll need the strength and support of his entire team, and his entire family, to fight for his future,” co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez told Tudum.

“This is going to be the biggest and most personal challenge Mickey has ever faced, and also the biggest roller coaster we’ve yet taken our audience on,” Humphrey stated. “And of course, our other characters will be dealing not only with Mickey’s case but with a slew of challenges they’re facing as well.”

How to Get to Heaven from Belfast — Feb. 12

It’s an exciting time for Derry Girls fans, as that show’s creator, Lisa McGee, has a new series, How to Get to Heaven from Belfast.

Saoirse (Roísín Gallagher) is a TV writer, Robyn (Sinéad Keenan) is a mother of three and Dara (Caoilfhionn Dunne) is a carer, and these women have been friends since they were in school. Now they’re in their 30s, and when an email reveals the death of the estranged fourth member of their childhood friend group, the three women set off on a new adventure.

“This is the show I’ve always wanted to make; a mash‑up of my two favourite genres, mystery and comedy. We want to keep you guessing and keep you laughing,” creator, writer, and executive producer McGee told Tudum. “I can’t wait for you to meet Saoirse, Robyn and Dara, and go on this wild, weird adventure with them — an Irish odyssey — full of twists, turns, and arguments about eyelash extensions.”

Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model — Feb. 16

For the first time, the curtain is being pulled back on the former reality TV hit America’s Next Top Model, with Tyra Banks, Jay Manuel, J. Alexander (aka Miss J), Nigel Barker and former contestants opening up about their time on the show.

The three-part series dives into the context that sparked the series, a number of controversial moments, and how the show came to an end, with the intention of addressing one core question: “How far are we willing to go for entertainment?”

The Night Agent, Season 3 — Feb. 19

Night Agent Peter Sutherland, played by Gabriel Basso, returns to track down a Treasury Agent who fled to Istanbul with sensitive government intel.

“Peter grapples with a dangerous conspiracy at the heart of the White House, a dogged reporter with a hot tip and a murky past, a murder suspect trying to clear his name, a mysterious father and son leaving a trail of bodies in their wake, old friends in danger, a collection of familiar and new foes, and a new partner who could be his salvation — or his doom,” creator, executive producer and showrunner Shawn Ryan told Tudum.

Bridgerton Season 4, Part 2 — Feb. 26

Following the release of Part 1 of Bridgerton Season 4, the second part of the season lands on Netflix next month. As we wait to see how Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie’s (Yerin Ha) love story unfolds, we have more romantic connections to follow, as well as the cliffhanger of Michaela’s (Masali Baduza) return.
