UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski has spoken about his future in the wake of his big win at UFC 325.

Last night in the main event of UFC 325, Alexander Volkanovski successfully defended his UFC featherweight championship. He defeated Diego Lopes pretty comprehensively and in doing so, he furthered his case for being considered the greatest of all time at 145 pounds.

Of course, while that may be the case for many, Volkanovski still believes he has a lot of work left to do. There are some serious contenders emerging at featherweight right now, with the likes of Lerone Murphy and Movsar Evloev waiting patiently for their opportunity to go after ‘The Great’.

In a post-fight press conference appearance in Sydney, Volkanovski gave his thoughts on what could be next for him.

Volkanovski talks about his future

“I’m an easy champ to understand,” Volkanovski said at a post-fight news conference. “If you deserve it, you’re next. … I’ve got a responsibility. I talk about having a responsibility as a champion. I don’t think enough champions look at it that way. For me, I look at it as a responsibility.

“There are rankings for a reason, people that deserve it. If someone does get in, I’ll still be active enough to give the people that deserve it a chance anyway, so they don’t have to wait that long. But if I’m just going to keep letting other people cut the line, then I’m not really doing my part either. I’ll talk to the UFC and see what they say. But for me, again I’m an easy champion at the end of the day. If the UFC pushes it or whatever, all right. We’ll see what happens.”
