A former teammate of Carey Price, and former Montreal Canadien, has indeed opened up about the star goaltender.
While Joe Thornton, Zdeno Chara, and Duncan Keith received the long-awaited call, Carey Price was snubbed in his first year of eligibility for the Hockey Hall of Fame.
That means he will not be a “First Ballot Hall of Famer.”
Alex Kovalev Has a Lot to Say About This Carey Price Decision
According to Kovalev, who spoke to a media outlet from his home country, Price absolutely deserves to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
He clearly doesn’t understand the decision and seems convinced it’s only a matter of time before Price is officially inducted.
“He did a lot for Montreal.
He’s incredible.
When I played, he was really young and just starting to carve out his path in the NHL.
He was only beginning to get the opportunity to play.
And then he did so much for that team afterward.
I think he will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame – it just wouldn’t make any sense otherwise.”

From the way he speaks, you can really tell that Price being overlooked this year by the HHOF disappointed him. But it’s also clear he sees it as just a delay – and he’s probably right.
Kovalev and Price played together for two full seasons, when #31 was still a very young goaltender in the NHL.
Clearly, Kovalev continued to follow Carey Price’s career after that, and clearly, he’s a big fan of the Canadiens goalie.
We highly recommend the full interview – Kovalev had a lot to say, and it’s genuinely worth a listen.
