A pedestrian is fighting for their life in hospital after being hit by the driver of a vehicle in North York on Sunday afternoon, police say.

The collision happened near Keele Street and Densley Avenue, which is just south of Lawrence Avenue West in the Brookhaven-Amesbury neighbourhood.

Toronto police said they were called to that area just before 3 p.m. for reports of a pedestrian struck in a collision.

Police say a male in his 70s was taken to the hospital.

They later said that the pedestrian’s injuries are determined to be life-threatening.

The driver of the vehicle, a red pick-up truck, remained on scene.

Paramedics told CTV News Toronto that they transported a man to the hospital with serious, potentially life-threatening injuries.

Currently, southbound Keele is closed south of Lawrence.

The collision reconstruction unit is now investigating.
