Blenheim’s Breanne Nicholas can break the Team Canada record for most HSBC SVSNS Series women’s rugby sevens tournaments this weekend in Perth, Australia.

Nicholas played in her 45th tournament this past weekend in Singapore, tying Bianca Farella for the most in team history.

“I just love playing,” she said in a post-match interview after Canada’s opener. “Bianca is one of our greatest players ever, so to be tied with her for appearances is a feat. I love the game, I love that people are celebrating it, but I’m not done yet.”
Canada beat the United States 24-19 in overtime to win bronze medals Sunday for its best finish of the season. Olivia Apps scored the winning try.
Nicholas played in all five tournament games and scored one try as Canada went 3-2.
She has 334 points in her series career on 32 tries and 87 converts.
Nicholas, who turns 32 on Feb. 20, made her series debut in 2016.

She’s worn the Maple Leaf at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, the Commonwealth Games, the Pan Am Games, the Rugby Sevens World Cup and the Junior Olympics.
Canada bounced back to win bronze in Singapore after a 35-10 semifinal loss to Australia. New Zealand beat Australia 36-7 for gold.
Canada placed second in its pool with a 2-1 record. After beating France 29-24 in overtime and losing to New Zealand 19-12, Canada shut out Great Britain 52-0 as Nicholas scored the second try.
Canada began the series with consecutive sixth-place results in Dubai and Cape Town.
Canada is tied for fourth place overall in the eight-team standings.
The Canadians are in a pool with Australia, France and Great Britain this weekend in Perth.
