ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. – The Texas A&M men’s golf team is tied for fourth place after Monday’s opening day of play at the Sea Best Invitational.

The Aggies were led by Aaron Pounds, who opened the tournament with a 1-under 70 to position himself inside the top 10 in ninth place. He closed out the round with two birdies in the last four holes. Wheaton Ennis and Jaime Montojo both carded even 71s to remain within striking distance, tied for 18th place. Alex Long and Jack Usner added rounds of 2-over 73 to keep the Maroon & White firmly in contention. Playing as an individual, Jake Maggert is tied with Long and Usner in 36th place at 2-over 73.

TEXAS A&M QUOTES
Head Coach Brian Kortan
On today’s rounds…
“In general, we had six guys in it all day. The guys did a lot of good things today. We need to be a little better with the putters tomorrow and clean up some things, but it was a pretty solid round for the first one of the spring.”
On Aaron Pounds’ play…
“He was just hitting some good shots and stacking good shots together to get opportunities. Like all the guys, he did some things really well.”

Tuesday’s final round starts with a shotgun start at 11 a.m.
