CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Ball State women’s tennis No. 1 doubles team of Sarah Shahbaz and Isabel Tanjuatco earned Mid-American Conference Doubles Team of the Week after a dominant performance for the Cardinals this past weekend. 
 
Ball State’s top tandem anchored a successful opening weekend in South Bend, proving why they are the premier duo in the conference. Following a historic 13-1 fall campaign, Shahbaz and Tanjuatco transitioned seamlessly into the spring season by securing critical victories on the top court against Notre Dame and Navy. 
 
The duo opened the weekend on Saturday with a 6-3 decision over Notre Dame’s Gabriella Rawles and Rylie Hanford. The twosome continued their success on Sunday by beating Navy’s Olivia Fermo and Nicole FU by a score of 6-2.
 
The Ball State women’s tennis team will host Butler on Friday for its home opener at 3 pm ET at the First Serve Muncie Tennis Facility.
