Apple has released software updates today for older devices, such as your ancient iPhone 8 and older iPads.

iOS 16.7.14 (20H370)
iPadOS 16.7.14 (20H370)
macOS 11.7.11 (20G1443)
watchOS 10.6.2 (21U594)
watchOS 9.6.4 (20U512)

These updates come one week after Apple initially released iOS and iPadOS 16.7.13 and more.

According to the release notes, this is a certificate update so older devices can continue to use iMessage and FaceTime beyond January 2027, reports MacRumors.

iPhone 12 series (all models)
iPhone 11 series (all models)
iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR

iPhone SE (2nd generation or later)

iPads Supporting iPadOS 16

iPad Pro: All models (including the original 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch)
iPad Air: 3rd generation and later
iPad: 5th generation and later
iPad mini: 5th generation and later

You can update your iPhone and iPad by going to Settings > General > Software Update.
