The main event for this year’s WWE WrestleMania 42 event in Las Vegas, Nevada has been confirmed during tonight’s episode of Raw.
At WWE Royal Rumble this past weekend, Roman Reigns won the men’s Royal Rumble match, earning him a guaranteed WrestleMania title shot.
The win gave Reigns the choice between facing World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk or Undisputed WWE Champion Drew McIntyre.
On tonight’s episode of Raw, Reigns made his decision.
In the main event of WrestleMania 42, Roman Reigns will challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Reigns made his entrance for the final segment of Raw and asked the crowd who he should choose out of Punk and McIntyre, with Punk the overwhelmingly more popular choice.
Eventually, Punk came out, but instead of immediately confronting Reigns, he spoke into the camera to Finn Balor, who attacked him at the end of Raw last week and wants another World Title match after Punk retained against him the week prior.
Then, Punk and Reigns went back and forth on the mic, including Reigns making a reference to Punk going on his “best friend’s podcast” many years ago and making Reigns’ life in WWE harder than it should have been.
Reigns concluded by saying
“I’ve made my choice. I could pick you because you’re the biggest star available. I could pick you because you’re on Netflix and you’re on the best show.
“But no, I’m picking you because I hate you. I’ve always hated you. And WrestleMania’s gonna be the best day of my life, because in the main event, you will acknowledge me.”

Last year’s WrestleMania 41 night one main event featured both Reigns and Punk in a three-way won by Seth Rollins when Paul Heyman turned on them both to form an alliance with Rollins.
The main event of night two saw John Cena win the Undisputed WWE Championship from Cody Rhodes.
