The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event continues filming, and new set photos reveal the film’s depiction of the height of Beatlemania. Hailing from director Sam Mendes, the ambitious biopics stars Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.

After the first batch of promotional images were unveiled earlier this week, Daily Express has now shared images from the London set of the Beatles movies, spotlighting Mescal and Quinn. The photos show London transformed into 1964 New York City for a recreation of the band’s arrival at the Plaza Hotel.

The photos, which can be viewed at the link below, show police officers escorting Paul and George through a large crowd. Several photos show Mescal surveying the cheering crowd, while another features Quinn right in the thick of it with his police escort. The final image seemingly shows the aftermath of a fan encounter, with Mescal pictured missing the right sleeve of his overcoat.

The Beatles’ checking in at the Plaza Hotel followed a touchdown at JFK airport on February 7, 1964. This arrival in the U.S. after finding significant fame in the UK marked the beginning of Beatlemania in America.

On February 9, the band played the Ed Sullivan show, which kicked Beatlemania into overdrive for North American audiences. This period featured the band constantly at the center of media attention and being mobbed by fans, an era that the photos suggest will be an important part of Mendes’ biopics.

All four Beatles films are scheduled to be released in theaters in April 2028, marking a truly unique rollout. The novelty of the release strategy means it’s unclear exactly how well the films will do in terms of box office, but musical biopics remain immensely popular with audiences, with Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) grossing over $910 million worldwide.

Production on the Beatles films got underway last November and is expected to take roughly a year. The four movies will chart the rise of the band in the early ’60s, with each movie focusing on a different member.

The first promotional images, included above, showed the four Beatles stars sporting looks that cover all eras of the legendary British band, speaking to the project’s epic scope. The films will seemingly take viewers through to the Fab Four’s final performance together in 1969.

With a release still over two years away and months of filming left, it will likely be some time before an official trailer is released. More set images could arrive over the coming months, though, giving viewers a better idea of what to experct from this Beatles cinematic event.
